Our oral health is very important. One of the most important practices in keeping your oral health is brushing the teeth twice every day. This helps keep your teeth clean, it helps balance the mouth’s pH and also get rid of the small bits of food that remain in the mouth which becomes food for cavity causing bacteria. However, our toothbrushes do experience wear and tear. According to the American dental association, you should use your toothbrush for no longer than three months without changing it. When you use a toothbrush for too long, you are likely to fall into a lot of issues that you can very easily avoid. Dealing with PlaquePlaque is one of the most common dental conditions facing people. Plaque is a colorless and sticky layer of bacteria that coats our teeth. When you use a toothbrush for too long the bristles tend to get frayed. As such, they become very ineffective in removing the plaque since the bristles don’t come into full contact with the teeth leaving some space which doesn’t get washed which in the long run can lead to cavities and the like. Growing MoldMold is a living organism that grows in dark, damp environments. A lot of people tend to keep their toothbrushes in a covered container. While people think that this is protecting it from germs, this is actually creating an environment where it’s very for mold to grow on the toothbrush. When you use the toothbrush for too long, you might notice some black spots on the toothbrush which is a sign of mold. Brushing the teeth with such a toothbrush can actually make you very sick. |
