By consuming foods like sweetened fruit drinks, sodas, or other sugary snacks, you increase the risk of tooth decay. Tooth decay is one of the most common dental problems and can get severe if left untreated. Luckily, you can prevent this condition. In most cases, tooth decay occurs when plaque comes into contact with sugar, causing acids that affect your tooth enamel. Therefore, consuming foods that contain sugars significantly increases the chances of tooth decay. If your diet doesn't have certain nutrients, it makes it difficult for the mouth tissue to fight against infections. This might lead to conditions like gingivitis and periodontitis. When these conditions advance, you could lose your tooth. If you have poor nutrition, the chances of developing this condition are very high; it will also progress faster due to lack of resistance.
