How to Freshen Your Breath Quickly

Posted on 11/16/2020 by Robert Leale
How to Freshen Your Breath QuicklyBad breath can be embarrassing, especially if you are about to go on a date or you have an important meeting at work. The best way to prevent bad breath is to follow proper oral hygiene, but there are a few other ways to freshen your breath quickly, whether you are at home or on the go.

At Home

If you are in your own home, your first choice for fixing unpleasant breath is probably to brush your teeth or rinse with mouthwash. But if for some reason you are not able to, or if you are at someone else's home, there are several natural breath fresheners you can reach for. Foods like parsley, apples, celery, and carrots cleanse your teeth of halitosis-causing bacteria. They also cause your mouth to produce more saliva, which is beneficial since having a dry mouth leads to bad breath.

Sucking on cloves is another way to freshen your breath naturally and quickly. You can also try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water, apple cider vinegar, or homemade mouthwash made with ingredients like baking soda or tea tree oil. Feel free to ask us for recommendations at your next dental checkup.

On the Go

There are many products available that can help fix bad breath while you are on the go. Keeping sugar-free gum or mints in your car, purse, or desk drawer at work will ensure that you always have a quick fix whenever bad breath strikes. You could also bring dental floss, a small pack of floss picks, or even a travel-sized toothbrush with you to freshen your breath instantly.

Remember that bad breath can also be due to an underlying issue such as gum disease, especially if it persistent and nothing seems to help. If you are struggling with bad breath, call our office today to set up an appointment.
