Getting veneers put in is a significant step towards obtaining the smile you have always wanted. From their ability to neatly and easily hide stains and discolorations, to their usefulness in hiding gaps and correcting slightly crooked teeth, porcelain dental veneers are a fast and easy way to upgrade your smile.
However, sometimes a veneer may experience some issues, such as being damaged due to eating overly crunchy foods or some other issue. If you have cracked one of your veneers, you need to address the issue right away. Here is what you should do. Make an Appointment to See Us ImmediatelyThe first thing you need to do is make sure you get in touch with us. A cracked veneer will need to be either repaired or replaced, and this simply isn't something you can do at home.We will get you scheduled to come in for an inspection. Once we take a look at your veneer, we can tell you whether it can be repaired, or whether we are going to need to replace it altogether. In the meantime, you need to take steps to avoid further damaging the veneer or the tooth to which it is affixed. You will want to avoid foods that are extremely hard or sticky. These foods place extra stress on your teeth, and can cause the damaged veneer to crack even further-or break altogether. Also, be sure that you are very thorough in your brushing. A crack is a prime place for small food particles to lodge, and for bacteria to build up. Make sure you're using a good mouthwash to help get in that small crack and kill the bacteria. While veneers are a great way to upgrade your smile, they do require some care. If your veneer is cracked, call us right away. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call us at (509) 590-1763 today. |
